What is a mobile camp?
Boulder Outdoor Camp operates as a mobile day camp, meaning we do not have a fixed facility. Instead, we designate a Boulder city park as the drop-off and pick-up location for the duration of each camp week. While this location remains consistent throughout the week, it may vary between sessions.
Camp Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Drop off
Each week, families will receive the designated drop-off and pick-up location at a Boulder city park (South & Central Boulder).
Travel
Campers are dropped off in the morning, and we travel together in 15-passenger vans to that day's outdoor destination.
Pick up
At the end of the day, we return to the same park for pick-up.
How we Travel
Boulder Outdoor Camp operates with 15-passenger vans driven by thoroughly vetted staff, who maintain clean and safe driving records.
-
All drivers and counselors undergo background checks and must have a clean driving record.
-
Each van is staffed with a minimum of two adults to ensure camper safety.
-
While we travel as a group to each site, we may split into smaller groups based on trail difficulty to ensure an age-appropriate and engaging experience.
Longer Travel Days & Camper Experience
For longer trips, van time is an extension of the camp experience. We incorporate:
-
Team-building games to foster friendships and group cohesion.
-
Safety discussions to prepare campers for the day's hike or activity.
-
Team challenges to encourage problem-solving and leadership.
