Who are we?
Boulder Outdoor Camp was founded by Nicky and Candice, two passionate educators with a shared love for nature and a commitment to creating meaningful experiences for children. After years of teaching and leading camps, we saw firsthand how the outdoors can be a powerful space for fostering curiosity, resilience, and self-efficacy in kids.
Our backgrounds in education, coupled with a deep appreciation for the natural world, inspired us to create a camp that combines hands-on exploration, community-building activities, and opportunities for personal growth. We believe that every camper deserves the chance to discover their strengths, develop confidence, and form lasting connections—with both peers and the environment.

At Boulder Outdoor Camp, we’re not just creating a space for fun and adventure; we’re building a community. From group hikes and team challenges to moments of reflection under the stars, every experience is designed to help campers grow as individuals while also learning the value of collaboration and teamwork.

Camp Director Candice
Founder & Lower Crew Director

Candice is a Teach for America alumna with over a decade of experience teaching grades 3-8 and providing instructional coaching to middle school teachers. She holds a Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration and a Specialist's Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida International University. During the academic year, she collaborates with schools across the nation to promote equitable educational opportunities for high school students.

Outside of her work, Candice enjoys traveling, cooking, and exploring new cuisines. She treasures spending quality time with her fiancé, family, friends, and her three beloved cats. A fun fact about Candice: she has a life goal to visit all 50 states (26 down, 24 to go!) and every continent (currently at 4 out of 7). With extensive experience as a Camp Programs Director, Candice brings a wealth of expertise to fostering a vibrant and inclusive camp community.
Camp Director Nicky
Founder & Higher Crew Director

Nicky is a former science teacher with over a decade of experience teaching grades 3-7. She has written nationally utilized STEM curricula and developed college-level science courses designed for future educators. In the realm of camps, Nicky has successfully managed STEM-focused summer camps and coordinated overnight programs for school-aged students.

Outside of her work, Nicky is a proud mom to two kiddos. She enjoys spending her free time watching movies, hiking, stargazing, and nurturing her love for plants. Holding a Master’s degree in Human Development from the University of Colorado Denver, Nicky is deeply passionate about creating engaging, impactful, and unforgettable learning experiences for every camper.
